Do direct hire ALT jobs come only once or twice a year? Or are there always openings? Plus, in addition to direct hires with BoEs, do you have information of private schools?

The main hiring period is for April starts. These jobs sometimes start appearing as early as October/November.

Some BoEs do take on new ALTs after the summer vacation. Last year a decent number of jobs turned up but we have been having much more difficulty finding them this time around. The ones that we know about have closed their application periods already.

To my knowledge, even when an ALT is not working out so well, schools/BoEs don't seem to get rid of them till the end of their contract.

As for private schools, this is something we are starting to investigate.
